Welcome to the Asia-Pacific Hub
The Asia-Pacific Hub is a regional hub of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature

What are the Rights of Nature?
It is the recognition that our ecosystems – including trees, oceans, animals, and mountains – have rights just as human beings have rights. It is the holistic recognition that all life, and all ecosystems on our planet are deeply intertwined. Rather than treating nature as property under the law, the time has come to recognize that natural communities have the right to exist, maintain, and regenerate their viral circles.
The Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature
The Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature is a global network of organizations and individuals committed to the universal adoption and implementation of legal systems that recognize, respect and enforce the “Rights of Nature”.

The Global Alliance is a dynamic and diverse global network of organizations, communities and individuals dedicated to advancing the Rights of Nature movement, through active cooperation and collective action. It serves as a global hub for exchanging knowledge and information, building an intersectional movement, and fostering collaboration to forward the understanding and implementation of Rights of Nature.
Global Gathering in Sienna
The Asia-Pacific Hub was created during GARN’s Global Gathering held in October 2022 in Siena, Italy. This marked the first time that 70 leaders from the Rights of Nature movement – economists, lawyers, scientists, Indigenous leaders, community activists and authors from 22 countries and 4 Indigenous nations – came together since the pandemic, to reflect on their work to transform our society’s relationship with the larger Earth community.

The International Rights of Nature Tribunal

The Tribunal was created by GARN in 2014 to provide a vehicle for reframing and adjudicating prominent environmental and social justice cases within the context of a Rights of Nature-based Earth Jurisprudence. The Tribunal aims to create a forum for people from all around the world to speak on behalf of nature, to protest the destruction of the Earth and it also has a strong focus on enabling Indigenous Peoples to share their unique concerns and solutions about land, water, and culture with the global community.
